The 16AWG gauge delivers more current capacity and lower resistance than 18AWG — ideal for longer runs to powered security devices, magnetic door locks, audio amplifiers, and access control equipment where voltage drop over distance matters. The shield system (AL-foil + PE tape + tinned copper drain wire) blocks electromagnetic interference from nearby electrical equipment, HVAC systems, and fluorescent lighting for clean, reliable control signals in demanding commercial environments.
