With no shield to add cost or installation complexity, it is the straightforward choice for clean environments without significant EMI from power lines, motors, or lighting ballasts.
The 16AWG gauge handles more current and maintains lower voltage drop over long runs than 18AWG — important for powered security devices, audio amplifiers, door strikes, and access control equipment at the end of a long cable run. With 19 strands per conductor, the cable remains flexible and easy to route through walls, conduit, and junction boxes. A built-in ripcord enables fast, clean jacket removal at every termination point.
