FPLR-rated 16AWG shielded fire alarm cable for vertical riser runs in shafts and between floors. FPLR is the riser rating under NEC Article 760, required for circuits running vertically through more than 1 floor. Substitutes for FPL; FPLP substitutes for FPLR.
16AWG sits between 14AWG and 18AWG in the fire alarm range: lower resistance than 18AWG for longer NAC runs and more devices per circuit, while staying thinner and lighter than 14AWG for shorter runs and tighter conduit fill. AL-foil shield with drain wire blocks EMI from motors, HVAC, and electrical panels, keeping alarm signals clean in large buildings.
