FPLR-rated fire alarm cable for vertical riser runs in shafts, stairwells, and between floors. FPLR is the riser rating under NEC Article 760 — required wherever fire alarm circuits run vertically through more than one floor. FPLR substitutes for FPL; FPLP substitutes for FPLR.
16AWG offers lower resistance than 18AWG — supporting longer notification appliance circuit (NAC) runs and higher device loads for horns, strobes, and horn/strobes without excessive voltage drop. The standard choice when 18AWG would limit circuit distance or device count.
